When my husband and I checked into our Sea Ranch Cottage at the Hotel Hana Maui it was breathtaking! We have stayed at the hotel a few times in the past. One time in a hotel suite and three times in the Sea Ranch Cottages (including the initial days of our honeymoon in 1991). It was better than remembered. We had a suite cottage this time, which is a little bigger than the regular size Sea Ranch Cottage. I loved it - to say the least. It was in the hot tub on our deck within minutes. Our view was over green pasture dotted with incredibly beautiful horses looking toward a mesmerizing blue ocean. I have loved Hana since my arrival in Hawaii in 1974. I have always felt awash with peace and serenity when in this place. What an incredible treat to stay at this lovely hotel in one of my absolutely favorite parts of Hawaii Coffee and tea making facilities are in the room and our own ice maker. There is a lounging couch in the living room which is perfect for reading or .... The bedroom is bright with outside light because of so many louvered windows. Everything about the Cottage was perfect, including the bed which was like sleeping on a cloud. We spent a bit of time at the infinity pool near our cottage. My husband went to work out in the small but well equipped gym above the pool. Talk about a gym with a view! I participated in my first water aerobics class. We also enjoyed the jacuzzi by the pool in addition to the one in our room. If I would have had a little more time at the hotel I would have taken advantage of their massage and facials. They looked delicious. Maybe next time. The staff at the hotel displayed the most Aloha Spirit I had experienced in years. Friendly, efficient and accommodating, they assisted us with anything we needed. The dining was delightful with a variety of freshand delicious dishes. The dining room is airy and tropical, looking out over lush foliage. The Hotel and Hana/Kipahulu have a variety of things to do. Horseback riding in emerald green pastures on horses fit for royalty, hiking and more. Although the Hotel is on a grassy and rocky coastline, you can walk to Red Sands Beach (a little tricky to get to and sometimes clothing optional). It is a stunning red cinder sand beach created out of the side of a dormant cinder cone. Hamoa Beach is down the road a little and offers white sand beach and beach services. The Hotel offers free shuttle. I also like going to Kokee beach which is a littlecloser than Hamoa. The drive to Oheo Gulch/Seven Pools is windy and spectacular. Waterfalls, fresh water pools, flowering trees, wild fruit and ginger blossoms filling the air (seasonal). Staying at thehotel gives you a headstart to get out to the pools before the folks that drive out every day. Anyone coming to Maui should consider 2-3 nights at this delightful getaway. You can drive or take a commuter flight out to the hotel. Anytime of the year is beautiful. My favorite time of the year is July thru October. Melissa McCoy - Owner
First may I say thank you for the opportunity to experience the "Hotel Hana Maui" We both had a wonderful weekend. The Sea Cottage was beautiful. The staff could not have been nicer. All the grounds seem to be Ron Weissman - Hawaii Luxury Homes Specialist
Hana was fabulous. It is my new favorite hotel. From the moment we arrived at Hotel Hana Maui where we were greeted with refreshing fruit punch, then escorted by cart to our private suite, we were totally spoiled. It was so wonderful sitting outside in our private jacuzzi spa, looking out into the beautiful pasture where the horses were grazing, then farther out to the sea where the waves were crashing against the rock. When we felt the need to go exploring, there is so much to see within walking distance. The resort had so much to offer, you must view the art gallery, check out the fitness area, and stroll into town to do a little shopping. Of course, one of the highlights I like to mention is swimming in the dark in the heated horizon pool by the light of the tiki torches. Hawaii Family Specialist
I recently spent 2 incredibly relaxing days at Hotel Hana Maui. We arrived in the drive through lobby of the hotel, were greeted with leis, checked in and car valet parked within a couple of minutes. All with much aloha from the staff. After ordering a snack at the bar we proceeded to take the golf cart shuttle through the property to our Sea Ranch Cottage. It was dark by this time but you could still see how beautiful the property was. Our cottage was hardly a cottage. It was huge with a giant cushy king-size bed, oversized bathroom with a walk-in shower, large soaking tub and an outdoor deck. In the front was a large lounging couch big enough for the whole family , a 4 seat dining table and a wet bar area with fresh ground regular and decaf coffee (excellent by the way). Then comes the good part. A large deck with fabulous views to the ocean. On the deck were a patio table with 4 chairs along with 2 lounge chairs and a beverage table. Besides these was the Hottub ... It is tough to beat a moonlit night, a bottle of champagne, a bubbling hot tub, a great companion, and the truly relaxing quiet of a Hotel Hana night. We only ate breakfast in the main restaurant. It was excellent. I talked to people who ate dinner in the restaurant and they said it was great with entertainment in the form of hula dancers or a trio of musicians. The thing that really made this a truly relaxing escape was the aloha of the resort staff. Not to mention the opulence and feeling of being somewhere really special. I will definitely be selling this resort as a top spot in Hawaii and a great way to get away from the commercialization of other parts of the state. Hawaii Honeymoons Specialist
The adventure begins with a lovely, leisurely drive to Hana; by-passing waterfalls, bamboo forests & tropical flowers all along the infamous Hana Highway. Upon reaching the Hotel Hana Maui, we were greeted as if old friends, given a cool & welcome, tropical drink. The pace is unhurried, talking story is as much a part of the welcome as is receiving your key! A ride through the manicured grounds in the Hotel grand trail carts, took us to our own Sea Ranch Cottage, complete with private Jacuzzi. Oceanfront views, facing East for breathtaking moon-rises followed by spectacular sun-rises, left us awe-struck. The accommodations are Five-Star, with every amenity thoughtfully placed in the cottage for your enjoyment. A small refrigerator with ice-maker, freshly ground coffee with maker, wine & champagne glasses, corkscrews, a lovely dining table that invites a relaxed beginning to each day. Dining in the hotel is an experience that must not be missed! Utilizing only the freshest ingredients, the Hotel's chefs make breakfast, afternoon pupus or dinner simply wonderful. The view from the dining room, overlooking the grounds and further out, the vast blue that is the Pacific Ocean only continues to contribute to the unhurried pace & joy of Hana. Ask for the key to drive up to Fagan's Cross & expect to be yet again completely astounded by the view that awaits you. Even the pool continues with oceanviews! The beautiful wooden deck chaises cradle you while the afternoon slips away and your next decision is to nap or play croquet! A highly enjoyable & necessary part of any visit to Maui is a stay at the spectacular Hotel Hana Maui! Hawaii Wedding Specialist
